Richard A. Greenwald Bio

Richard Greenwald is Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences and professor of history at Fairfield University. He previously held leadership positions at the City University of New York, St. Joseph’s University (NY), and Drew University. His books include The Triangle Fire, the Protocols of Peace and Industrial Democracy in Progressive Era New York; Sweatshop USA: The American Sweatshop in Historical and Global Perspective, and Labor Rising: The Past and Present of Working People in America. He is working on two books: a higher education book entitled Class Dismissed and a co-authored book on the connections between workers and social democracy entitled Woven Together for Justice (both under contract with The New Press). He has been on editorial board for the journals Working US, Labor History, and the Journal of Planning History and formally editor of he book series “Work in the Americas,” published by the University Press of Florida. His writing has appeared in The Wall Street Journal, The Los Angeles Times, The Boston Globe, The Chicago Tribune, In These Times, The New York Daily News, BusinessWeek, and The Chronicle of Higher Education, among others. He is a columnist for The DailyBeast and the Baffler.
